Five Points South

The HIVE

1006 20th St S Birmingham, AL 35205

After seeing “social house” concepts succeed in markets like Nashville, Denver and Charlotte, Orchestra Partners partnered with design-build firm Creature and the group behind Paramount and El Barrio restaurants to convert the old Bailey Brothers Music Company building into an anchor tenant in Five Points South. Completed in August 2018, the 16,000 square space brings several experiences together under one roof.  The HIVE is the ideal place to host an event of any size, enjoy a vibrant evening on a downtown rooftop, challenge friends to a game of duckpin bowling, or catch up at Peerless and the Dude during a stylishly casual night out with friends. The HIVE has also collaborated with New Belgium Brewing for Birmingham’s first taproom from a national brewery.

Five Points Lane

1024 20th Street South, Birmingham AL 35205

On the same street as The HIVE, the Five Points Lane project continues the theme of creating unique, urban experiences through connectivity and utilizing existing space. This 10,000 square foot space in the heart of Five Points will be a vibrant outdoor market environment, the centerpiece of which is a recovered alley connecting 20th Street to a bar made of shipping containers. The project opened in late 2019. Phase II of this project will include the adjacent building by opening its storefront onto the alley.

Studio Arts Building

1034 20th St S, Birmingham, AL 35205

Located on one of the five corners in Five Points South, the Studio Arts Building was once home to franchises and an unsavory nightclub. The local merchants association worked to identify opportunities so that the same mistakes were not made again. Orchestra Partners acquired the 11,000 square foot building to add a tenant mix favorable to the community and future growth of the community.

Real Estate Development in Five Points South

Five Points South is one of the most historic neighborhoods in Birmingham connecting downtown to affluent suburbs. With immense potential to become a thriving entertainment destination, Orchestra Partners has focused on this neighborhood due to its energy, historic character, walkability and reputation as a premier entertainment destination. Through several redevelopment projects in this area, we hope to create experiences that increase visitor foot traffic with a mix of retail and entertainment spots. John Boone, our principal and co-founder, serves on the Five Points South Alliance board, a community development organization working to revitalize the neighborhood.
